Traveling to Detroit can be fun. In October 2022, I was attending a customer meeting with Henry Ford Health and spend some time enjoying the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. Wow, what a great showplace to see the history of America in automotive, railroads, innovation, aviation, and home life. Well worth the cost for a senior $24.25 ticket.
Walking in the first entry point, I was in awe looking at the Presidential Motor Cades showing the 1962 President Kennedy Limo used when he was shot in Dallas. The Lincoln Limo was used from 1961 to 1977 – interesting to know how long they use them for the multiple elected Presidents. Next was the Regan Limo when he was shot by John Hinckley Jr. I love to see history and clearly remember those events.
I took several photos of the Mustang, Corvair and the Oscar Myer Hot Dog mobile. What a great collection of cars. Also, as America took to the road to travel The McDonald and Holiday Inn signs brought back several good times traveling with my family. I did not see a Ramada Inn sight but do remember the song… Went like this – “Toot your horn and come on in stay with us at the Ramada Inn”.
The history of the aviators and the planes in the museum was interesting. They should several types and where they were used to grow
the business. In the day most folks dressed up and the seats were much larger than now for sure.
The home life exhibit had several different layouts of furniture, kitchens and tools used on the farm. Time was much simpler back then.
I would suggest you make this a stop while in Detroit.
