Texas State Park – Palo Pinto

I was excited to visit on e on the new Texas Sates parks this week. Palo Pinto Mountain State Park opened this spring and clearly a win for my fellow campers.
The park is located west of Ft Worth in Strawn, Texas. On Highway I-20, the exit is just before Ranger Hill. About 2 hours from my house.

The park is clean and well designed for the future. I stayed in the RV areas in Warbler Ridge , site 17. I loved the hook up for water and power plus the concrete level pads were most welcome. The sites do not have a dump station and appear will not in the future. Large fire ring, picnic table, shaded cover, hanger pole for a lantern and loose fine gravel outside the cemented area keeping the site level. I am sure a tent will be easy to set up and comfortable.

Most impressive was the size of the park. Nice roads and well organized to other camp sites, the lake and trails. The Russel Creek Equestrian Campground area is a plus if you have a horse, close to a trail, each site has a small pen to help the management of your livestock. I drive by and was quite busy.

Outside the restroom in Warbler Ridge was a very unique play ground for the young kids. Rocks, trees and bark mulch made it feel you are like in the backwoods and in touch with nature. Worth seeing if you are visiting for sure. The also offered a pot plan cleaning sink outside the restroom.
